What This Page Offers: help and limits
This page sets out practical, general advice about gambling and points to independent sources of help. It does not run any control over an account, and it does not verify anything about the person reading it.
- General, practical guidance on keeping gambling as entertainment rather than a way to make money
- Links to independent gambling-help organisations, present on every page of this site
- A plain statement of what this page cannot do, and where the tools that can help actually sit
Independent Help: three organisations
Every page of this site, including this one, carries links to three independent gambling-help organisations: gamblinghelpline.co.nz, gamblingtherapy.org, and pgf.nz. These are the only outbound links on the whole site that are not commercial. Unlike the operator links, they carry no sponsored marking, they are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when a reader follows one of them.
- gamblinghelpline.co.nz — linked on every page
- gamblingtherapy.org — linked on every page
- pgf.nz — linked on every page
Account Controls: not here
Controls such as deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods or self-exclusion belong to an operator account. This build has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch one of those controls on, check its status, or enforce it. Anyone who wants such a control has to arrange it inside an account at the destination the operator link leads to, once they leave this site.
- No deposit or loss caps exist on this site — they are set inside an operator account
- No reality checks or cooling-off periods run here — they run at the destination
- No self-exclusion can be requested through this site — it is requested at the destination
Age and Money: at the destination
The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this build, including on the front page and at the end of every operator listing. Nobody's age is verified on this site, and no gambling takes place on it — any age check happens at the destination. Everything a reader can actually do with money happens after leaving this site: each of the ten operator listings ends with the same line, asking the reader to check availability and the current terms at the destination before claiming anything, because eligibility rules and terms apply there and can change without notice. Each operator link redirects to a third party, and from that moment the destination's rules, checks and account controls apply, not anything published here.
- Age restriction stated repeatedly, including on the front page and after every listing
- No age verification, no account, no gambling activity on this site itself
- Terms, eligibility and availability confirmed only at the destination, before claiming anything
Practical Advice: staying in control
The following points are general practice, not a description of any tool on this site or at any destination. Each one has a plain reason behind it.
- Decide the amount before starting. A figure set in advance, away from the excitement of play, is easier to hold to than one decided in the moment.
- Treat that amount as already spent. Thinking of it as gone from the outset removes the temptation to measure the session by what is left to lose.
- Never chase a loss. Trying to win back money already lost usually means increasing the stake or the time spent, which raises the loss rather than recovering it.
- Keep gambling out of borrowed money. Money that is owed elsewhere turns a loss into a debt problem as well as a gambling one.
- Take breaks. Stepping away for a few minutes breaks the pull to keep playing "just one more" round and gives a clearer view of how the session is actually going.
- Involve someone else early. Speaking to another person, or to one of the organisations linked above, is easier before gambling has stopped feeling like entertainment than after.
